Getting Started
AutoShort Uploader follows a simple workflow. Here is the complete setup process.
1. Choose Images
Select a local folder containing your images (JPG, PNG, or WebP). The Application uses exactly four unused images per Short. Images are tracked locally to prevent reuse until you reset the history.
2. Choose Audio
Select a local audio file (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, or OGG). The same audio file is used for every Short in automation mode.
3. Connect YouTube
client_secret.json file (a Desktop app OAuth file from Google Cloud Console). The Application never asks for your Google password. Authorization occurs entirely through Google's official OAuth consent page.
4. Create Test Short
Click "Create Test Video" to render a test Short from your selected images and audio. The rendered MP4 is saved to your output folder. Test rendering does not mark images as used in history.
5. Upload a Test Video
Click "Upload Test Video" to upload your test Short to your YouTube channel. Keep the privacy setting on "Private" for your first upload. Images are only marked as used after YouTube returns a video ID for a successful upload.
6. Start Automation
Run the "Pre-flight Check" to verify everything is configured correctly. Then click "Start Automation". The first upload happens immediately, and subsequent uploads occur 60 minutes after each successful upload.
Disconnect YouTube
To remove a YouTube channel from AutoShort Uploader:
- Select the channel from the YouTube Channel dropdown.
- Click "Remove Authorization".
- Confirm the action in the dialog that appears.
This removes the local OAuth token and channel entry. It does not delete your YouTube channel or any videos.
Revoke Google Access
Removing authorization from AutoShort Uploader only deletes the local token file. To also revoke access from your Google Account:
- Visit your Google Account security page.
- Find the section for third-party apps with account access.
- Locate AutoShort Uploader and remove it.
After Google-side revocation, AutoShort Uploader will require re-authorization before accessing the YouTube API again.
Common Errors
"Google authorization is invalid or expired"
The OAuth token has expired and cannot be refreshed. Click "Reconnect" to re-authorize the channel. If that fails, remove the channel and add it again.
"The YouTube API quota has been exceeded"
Your Google Cloud project has reached its daily API quota. Quotas reset at midnight Pacific Time. You may also need to request a quota increase in the Google Cloud Console.
"YouTube's channel upload limit has been reached"
YouTube imposes upload limits on some channels. This is a YouTube-side restriction. Check your YouTube Studio for channel standing and limits.
"FFmpeg was not found"
The Application could not locate FFmpeg. Make sure FFmpeg is installed or browse to ffmpeg.exe in Settings. The Application includes a bundled FFmpeg in the standard installation.
"Need 4 unused images, but only X remain"
Not enough unused images are available in your images folder. Either add more images to the folder or reset the used-image history from the Settings menu.
Upload Restrictions and Compliance
Some Google Cloud / YouTube API projects may be subject to API compliance requirements that affect upload visibility and capabilities. This is a YouTube-side policy enforcement mechanism.
AutoShort Uploader does not bypass these restrictions. If your API project requires a compliance audit, you must complete that process through the Google Cloud Console before certain upload features (such as Public visibility) will be available.
The Application displays a warning in the YouTube Settings when "Public" privacy is selected, reminding you of this requirement.
